The Story of an Imaginary State

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom where group of people lived according to the divine laws. They had righteous leaders and enjoyed happiness and prosperity. But as time passed, they became greedy and not content with their own lives. Injustice spread throughout the kingdom, leadership changed from bad to worse, and the kingdom eventually fell under the rule of rival power. These rivals ultimately destroyed the kingdom and scattered its people across a new realm.

Time passed, and scattered people across the new kingdom eventually gained the opportunity to come back to their original land. Some of them did return, some didn’t. Those who returned were able to form a new community where they lived peacefully. Although, this was not anymore the shadow of the glory they had before, at least they were on the land from where they were originally expelled.

After some time, they again forgot the struggles they had gone trough and they gradually returned to their old patterns of injustice and terror. At this point, there was much larger and more powerful kingdom surrounding them, decided to conquer them and scatter its people once again across the wider realm.

Education and Resourcefulness

One notable aspect of this population is that they were highly intelligent and most of them well educated. At that time, literacy was a significant advantage, as the majority of people could not read or write. This allowed them to develop early financial practices based on written communication. Taking advantage of their geographic dispersion, they established the first forms of banking between distant locations.

One person on one side of the kingdom would take the gold, deposit it with a trusted individual who would write a note to an associate the other side of the kingdom, and send that note with the person who gave the gold. When the person who gave the gold came to the destination, he would give the paper to the associate, and get his gold back, decreased by the fee for the service. This system reduced the risk of theft during travel, since the value was not physically transported by a single individual, and the written notes were useless to those who could not read them.

Living Under Foreign Rule

They lived under foreign rule across different kingdoms and countries for centuries. During that time, in some regions, they benefited from just and tolerant system, which provided them with security and opportunities for prosperity. As an intelligent and largely educated population, they knew how to do the business and many of them became successful.

In other regions, the situation for them was not so good. But even in such circumstances, some individuals found their own way to achieve prosperity. Many of these individuals were involved in finance and contributed to the early development of banking systems. They understood how to generate profit through lending and financial transactions, using usury as a source of income. Other groups in these societies often did not understand their methods and were surprised by their success. This sometimes led to jealousy and hate, and in the end, contributed to their marginalization and exclusion from broader society.

The individuals who gained the wealth, used their network of contacts throughout different regions to influence politics, steering the developments, and in some cases even the conflicts. It is not the seldom case that sometimes they financed both parties involved in conflict because they didn’t want to risk putting their bet on the side who would not win in the end. Their influence grown trough the years, and many of them became most influential people in finance, media and politics, but mostly operating from the background, in the silence.

Idea To Return

During the time, old idea of returning to the land of origin was growing and some individuals already started to speak and write openly on this topic. In the same time, the world looked much different than the world some millenniums ago. On that land, there were already some other people, also living there for quite some time. Entire land was ruled by different kingdoms trough centuries and brought the special mixture in the population itself.

On the other hand, most of these people who had the idea for “return”, had almost nothing with the people who are originally expelled from those areas. They have already mixed with the people in new kingdoms for a long time, and were more resembling to the people in new kingdoms than to the people who are originally expelled from this ancient land.

However, this was not enough to redirect the idea. The goal was clear, make all necessary actions needed to put this plan to work. A lot of individuals supporting the idea were already established at influential positions across different countries and kingdoms. They used their influence and money as a significant leverage in creating the story around the idea.

Making It Happen

It started with the purchase of some properties, allowing the first groups to make their move there. After establishing the path, more and more groups are invited to migrate, and gradually the demographic picture began to change. What was once a minority became a majority in some areas and the first conflicts with local population began to emerge.

This development aligned with the growing need to establish their own rule. In the end, it happened. The new state was proclaimed and the war against all neighbors was started. In a short period of time, a significant portion of the land was taken under the control. People who did not belong to their groups were either killed or expelled from their homes. The state established the system which will work in favor of just one group, mostly ignoring rights of all others.

This marked the beginning of a new era, an era that would be written in blood, suffering and displacement of all those who did not fit into the established system. The official narrative was shaped using the wealth and influence accumulated over a long period of time. Sadly, when money speaks, many other things remain silent.
